During his two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from February 13-14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate Bharat Mart aimed at boosting trade between India and the UAE. Thought to be the equivalent of China’s ‘Dragon Mart’, the mart would be the perfect warehouse for Indian MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) to do business in Dubai.

Spread over 100,000 square meters inside the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), Bharat Mart will be a multi-purpose center with showrooms, offices, warehouses, utilities and.

Notably, a digital portal is being planned to enable global customers to access products from the Bharat Mart plant in a convenient manner. The project is crucial as India and the UAE aim to double their non-oil trade targets to $100 billion by 2030 under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

Abdullah Al Hashmi, Executive Director, Horticulture Community, DP World GCC, expressed optimism about Bharat Mart’s potential to emerge as a mega-distribution hub that helps export produce to the world.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit will also include BAPS, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, symbolizing the deep-rooted cultural ties between India and the UAE.
