Comic Legend Raju Srivastava Passes Away at 58

The death of famous comedian Raju Srivastava has left the industry in a state of shock. Raju Srivastava, who was known for his impeccable comic timing and wit, died on Tuesday evening after suffering a heart attack. He was 58.

raju srivastava DeathRaju Srivastava was born in Kanpur and started his career as a radio artist before venturing into television and films. He shot to fame with his appearances on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and thereafter became a household name with his stints on Comedy Circus. Some of his popular comedy shows include The Kapil Sharma Show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Boogie Woogie.

Raju Srivastava, better known as Gajodhar, the man who tickled our funny bones with his impeccable comic timing and witty one-liners, passed away on Thursday. He was 58. Raju Srivastava’s death news was confirmed by his brother Rakesh Srivastava toPTI. Raju Srivastava is survived by his wife Jayshree and two sons.

Raju Srivastava first came into limelight when he won The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2006. He was a finalist on the show which was judged by Shekhar Kapur, Javed Akhtar and Navjot Singh Sidhu. Post his win, Raju Srivastava went on to participate in several comedy shows like Comedy Nights with Kapil, The Kapil Sharma Show and more. He was also seen in a few Bollywood films like Phir Hera Pheri, Gulaab Gang and Chalo Dilli.

Raju Srivastava’s untimely death has come as a shock to the entertainment industry. Celebrities like Kapil Sharma, Raveena Tandon, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi and more took to social media to mourn his demise.

Kapil Sharma shared a photo of Raju Srivastava on Twitter and wrote, “You will be missed Raju Srivastav ji.”

Raveena Tandon shared a photo with the late comedian and wrote, “RIP Raju Srivastav. A very fine human being, always smiling.” Riteish Deshmukh also took to Twitter to pay his last respects. He wrote, “This is so saddening. Just spoke to him 2 days back.”
