1. CV RAMAN (1888-1970):

CV Raman tops the list of the top scientists of India and he is an Indian physicist who contributed to fundamental physics and he was also known for Raman effect, the explanation of scattering of light when it is passed through a transparent path. Raman won the Nobel prize in physics in 1930 for one of the most ground-breaking discoveries of the time, the first Asian to receive the Nobel in the field and his birthday is celebrated as National Science Day in India on 7 November.

2. HOMI J. BHABHA (1909-1966):

Homi J. Bhabha who was a well-known Indian nuclear physicist and also called as father of the Indian nuclear program. He aided in the Indian organizations like Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). Bhabha created ways for peaceful nuclear energy for India. He was a visionary scientist that his work helped India to rank higher as an emerging power in atomic science and research.

3. APJ ABDUL KALAM (1931-2015):

He worked for development of space technologies and he was known as an Indian aerospace scientist. He played a vital role in Indian’s nuclear tests like Pokhran-II and handle satellite launch vehicle, SLV-III. Beyond science, he served as a 11th President of India from 2002-2007 and inspired millions of people with his vision and humanity. He was the biggest supporter of youth, innovation and education.

4. VIKRAM SARABHAI (1919-1971):

He is recognized as the father of Indian Space Program because he established Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He helped in making India’s first satellite that is Aryabhata. Sarabhai created Institution like IIM Ahmedabad and Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). Sarabhai built the foundations for India’s journey into space for exploration and satellite communication.

5. JAGADISH CHANDRA BOSE (1858-1937):

Jagadish Chandra Bose was an Indian physicist, biologist and botanist among the top Indian scientists. He was one of the early inventors for wireless communication. He was first to research on plants and found out that they can even respond to stimuli using the device called crescograph which was invented by him. Jagadish Chandra Bose also conducted various research onto radio waves. His work led the foundation for both modern biophysics and wireless devices.

6. SRINIVASA RAMANUJAN (1887-1920):

Srinivasa Ramanujan was a mathematical genius whose mastery in numbers amazed the world. With only limited formal training, he made inventive contributions in number theory, series, continued fractions and modular functions. Though Ramanujan’s collaboration with English mathematician G.H. Hardy at Cambridge University, his work had reached to a worldwide recognition and inspired mankind at the time and even today.

7. SATYENDRA NATH BOSE (1894-1974):

The next distinguished Indian scientist is Satyendra Nath Bose and he is well known for his hard work and contributions. Satyendra Nath Bose also worked with Albert Einstein and despite his tremendous contributions, he never received Noble prize but he was respected and seen as a very intellect personality and as a role model.

8. PRAFULLA CHANDRA RAY (1861-1944):

10. HAR GOBIND KHORANA (1922-2011):

He was an Indian-American biologists and he had a great impact on science community.  He was the first scientist to synthesize an artificial gene and made key contributions to the elucidation of the genetic code.
