Supreme Court Declares Electoral Bonds Scheme Unconstitutional, Halts Issuance selection, the Supreme Court, led by means of Chief Justice of India Chandrachud, unanimously dominated at the legality of electoral bond schemes, emphasizing the significance of transparency in political funding for knowledgeable electoral selections.

Key Points of the SC Verdict:

About the Electoral Bond Scheme:

  • Open to all Indian citizens or entities incorporated within the U . S . A ., permitting purchase individually or at the same time.
  • Eligible recipients constrained to political events registered beneath Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and securing at least 1% of the votes polled inside the remaining Lok Sabha or country legislative meeting elections.
  • Introduced on January 2, 2018, through the government as an alternative to cash donations, aiming to enhance transparency in political investment.

Legal Proceedings:
